Book – You’ll Get Through This: Hope & Help for Your Turbulent Times

In these different & difficult times we find ourselves living in, it is important to have anchors for our souls. Anchors keep us in place while a storm rages about us. Special verses from God’s Word can be anchors…special songs…pictures…even go-to books can be anchors. One such book for me is “You’ll Get Through This: Hope & Help for Your Turbulent Times,” by Max Lucado.
I have read this book multiple times since receiving it. It looks at the life of Joseph from Genesis and how God brought him through his life that was filled with many different and difficult experiences. As you may or may not know, Joseph’s life circumstances saved at least two races of people…the Israelites and the Egyptians. God does not just bring us to things; He brings us through them. All of Joseph’s struggles shaped him to do the next chapter of his life’s story. God wants to do the same for us. God wastes nothing; He can redeem everything. Max Lucado also takes different and difficult situations from today and shows how God has weaved a way through the turbulent times just like God did with Joseph. It is a good and quick read with much to share.
A quote from the book that hangs on my bathroom mirror states it well: “You’ll get through this. It won’t be painless. It won’t be quick. But God will use this mess for the good. In the meantime don’t be foolish or naïve. But don’t despair either. With God’s help you will get through this” (p.4). We will get through this!
