BOOK REVIEW

Book: Master Potter

Author: Jill Austin

This is one of my favorite books.  It is the story of a piece of pottery (Forsaken) that has been discarded in Potter’s Field.  ‘She’ is found by a master potter and then embarks on a journey to become the vessel that he wants her to be.  It is a journey that is fun, exciting, sad, painful, a bit dangerous, and yet very fulfilling.

Being an allegory, it is a way of telling the story of salvation based on Jeremiah 18 where a potter is making a vessel made of clay.  He does what he needs to the clay, until it becomes the vessel he has in mind for it to be.  Master Potter shows us in story form the processes God uses to make us what He wants us to be.

One part of the book that really spoke to me was when Forsaken had to spend some time in the kiln to experience some deep healing.  It was such a painful time for her.  She had to revisit issues from her past that had scarred her and crippled her emotionally.  But with the help of Holy Spirit and Master Potter (Jesus), she faced her past and released her pain.

This is such a good book!  You may see yourself in the pages – your life without Christ, your salvation, challenges, trials, and overcoming by faith.

I recommend this book because I believe it will strengthen your walk with God and will bless your soul.  It may even be a means of healing for you as it was for me.  Be blessed!

P.S.  There is a sequel:  Master Potter and the Mountain of Fire
