Book – A Place of Quiet Rest: Finding Intimacy with God Through a Daily Devotional Life

Author – Nancy Leigh DeMoss (Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth)

How many times have you heard sermons or devotionals that talk about the importance of prayer, reading of the Bible and spending quiet time with the Lord?  How many times have you been motivated after hearing such messages and you return home ready to put to practice what you have learned? You start off well the first days, perhaps even weeks, but with time you go back to your routine and realize that once again you have neglected your devotional time.

I found this book several years ago that impacted me.  It has served not only as a practical guide to help me have intimacy with God, but it has inspired me to want to know him better each day.

The author walks you on an intimate journey with God like you have no idea!  She begins describing on chapter one, “A Day in the Life of the Lord,” the events that Jesus faces on one particular day, according to the narration of Mark chapter one. She helps you discover how Jesus found the time to be alone with his heavenly Father, despite his busy schedule. In the same way, she provokes you to do the same not ignoring the fact that most of us face common challenges each day as we strive to spend time with Jesus. She offers practical insights and encouragement throughout the book.

One of my favorite parts in the book is that at the end of each chapter she shares a short testimony of different women that have experienced intimacy with God, women that have left their imprints in history making a difference in the lives of others.

As you read this book, not only are you going to fall more in love with Jesus, but you will want to share your experience with other women.  You will want others to know him just as intimate as you will discover! Enjoy!
