Woven Together in Ministry

 

Decorate the Room for a Tea Party

  • Set up tables around the room
  • Place vases of flowers on the tables
  • Borrow tea pots from the women to use on each table
  • Check thrift stores for china cups and saucers or use clear plastic cups
  • Designate a corner of the room for individual and group photos. Consider purchasing a fun back ground and provide a variety of props.

Refreshments

  • Finger sandwiches
  • Small cakes or cookies
  • Fruit salad
  • Tea and coffee

Send out invitations to everyone. Encourage the women to dress for a formal tea party. A fun addition would be hat fascinators that are available for purchase at a number of online sites including Amazon. Assign a hostess to each table.

Speaker

Today we are going to enroll women to be a part of The Salvation Army’s Women’s Ministries programs. The Salvation Army Home League/Women’s Ministries is one of the largest organizations for women in the world.

The purpose of Women’s Ministries is to encourage women to be:

Transformed and empowered by the gospel to lead a Christ–like life

Engaged in social justice and action to positively impact our world

Equipped to fulfill their potential through life-long learning and development

Enriched mutually through local and global connections and support

This four-fold purpose is not something that we are able to accomplish alone. We need others to join us in this vision. We have gathered today to enroll new members who will join us in worship, fellowship, education, and service to make our group into a beautiful, God-created masterpiece.

We read in Romans 12:4-5 (TPT), “In the human body there are many parts and organs, each with a unique function.  And so it is in the body of Christ. For though we are many, we’ve all been mingled into one body in Christ. This means that we are all vitally joined to one another, with each contributing to the others.” As part of this group, you have an important role to play that cannot be fulfilled by anyone else. You are not ordinary. You are a work of art, beautifully created in God’s image. Look around you—you are all His treasures. Where one of us hurts, we support and help her to find healing. Where there is misunderstanding, God helps us to spread love through fellowship. Where there is division, we strive to understand so that we can be united as one.

The mission of our group is to bring women into the knowledge of Jesus Christ, encourage their full potential in influencing family, friends and community; equip them for growth in personal understanding and in life skills and to address issues that affect women and their families in their world.

Prayer

Let’s pray as Paul prayed for the Ephesians 3:16-19 (NIV), “I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with all power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”

Lord, I thank you for each woman who has come here today and is committed to advancing the mission and vision of Women’s Ministries of The Salvation Army. Today we pray for women across the nation and for one another. I ask, Lord. that you continue to mold us, strengthen, and guide as we strive to up uplift our community and world to the Glory of God our Creator.

We are glad to welcome each of you to this fellowship. May you find love, encouragement and fulfillment as you join with many women here in this community and throughout the world.
