Walk by Faith
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:7 “For we live by faith, not by sight.”
Introduction
We’ve all been affected by cancer in some way. It may be someone in our family or one of our close friends. How can we help those who are walking through this disease?
Program Ideas
- Make pink ribbons to hand out to people to wear.
- Do you know a woman who has recently recovered from breast cancer? Hold a Pink Party for her to celebrate. https://www.xpandlaces.com/blogs/news/top-tips-for-hosting-a-pink-out-for-breast-cancer-awareness-month
- Do you have women who can knit? Knit some Knitted Knockers!
Knitted Knockers are special handmade breast prostheses for women who have undergone a mastectomy or lumpectomy. Traditional breast prosthetics can be hot, heavy, and sticky. They typically require special bras or camisoles with pockets and can’t be worn for weeks after surgery. Knitted Knockers are soft, comfortable, beautiful and when placed in a regular bra take the shape and feel of a real breast. They are adjustable, washable and can even be worn while swimming.
The website below has the information you need. It includes information and patterns. Once completed donate them to your local cancer clinic. They are always looking for them for the women who come to the clinic. https://www.knittedknockers.org/
How Do You Walk?
Why do bad things happen to good people? This may be the question we ask when unexpected events happen in our lives. A child becomes sick, our parents are growing older and need extra care; we become ill, and words such as cancer are brought up. Second Corinthians speaks of these times and tells us, that yes, we will have troubles here on this earth. Yes, even those of us who believe are not exempt, and “groan” for the time when our troubles will pass. We just want it to end! We can find words of encouragement throughout the Bible for the times we feel overwhelmed with the troubles of this world.
Don’t Fear (Isaiah 41:10)
“Do not fear, for I am with you,” declares the Lord. These words echo throughout the ages, resonating with a timeless truth that transcends circumstances. They remind us that regardless of what we face, we are never alone. God, the Creator of the universe, the Almighty One, is with us every step of the way. His presence is our greatest source of strength and peace. Moreover, God reassures us, saying, “Do not be dismayed, for I am your God.”
He is not a distant deity who remains indifferent to our struggles. No, He is intimately acquainted with every detail of our lives. He knows our fears, our doubts, and our weaknesses. And yet, He chooses to be our God, extending His boundless grace and compassion towards us.
In His infinite love and mercy, God promises, “I will strengthen you and help you.” He doesn’t just offer empty words of consolation. He provides tangible support and empowerment. When we feel weak and powerless, He infuses us with His strength. When we are lost and confused, He guides us with His wisdom. When we are broken and hurting, He heals us with His tender touch.
Finally, God declares, “I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” His grip on us is firm and unwavering. Even when we falter and stumble, He is there to lift us up and carry us through. His righteousness serves as our shield and our protection, guarding us against every scheme of the enemy.
He Gives Us Strength
Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” (NIV)
The apostle Paul shares a profound truth that has echoed through the centuries: our strength comes from Christ alone. This simple yet powerful statement encapsulates the essence of our journey as followers of Christ.
Life often presents challenges that seem insurmountable. We face trials, temptations, and obstacles that can leave us feeling weak and inadequate. Yet, in the midst of our weaknesses, we find strength in Christ. He is our source of empowerment, our refuge in times of trouble. When we feel overwhelmed by the demands of life, when we doubt our abilities, or when we face seemingly impossible tasks, we can turn to Christ with confidence. He not only sympathizes with our weaknesses but also empowers us to overcome them.
Philippians 4:13 “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” Paul reminds us that our abilities are limited by our own strength but by the limitless power of the Holy Spirit working within us, we “can do all things.” As we surrender ourselves to Him and rely on His strength, we discover that we are capable of far more than we ever imagined. So let us embrace this truth and live each day with boldness and courage, knowing that in Christ, we have the strength to face whatever challenges come our way.
When Weary
Psalm119:28, “My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word.” In the depths of sorrow and weariness, we often find ourselves longing for strength and solace. This psalm beautifully expresses this cry of the soul—a plea for God’s comforting presence and empowering grace in times of distress. When our hearts are heavy with sorrow, when the burdens of life weigh us down, we can turn to the Word of God for renewal and strength. His promises are like a beacon of hope in the darkness, guiding us through the storms of life and filling us with courage to continue in our walk.
The psalmist recognizes the weariness of the soul, yet amidst the struggle, there is an unwavering trust in the power of God’s Word to bring renewal and strength. It’s a reminder that even in our weakest moments, God’s Word remains a source of comfort, encouragement, and strength.
Walk by Faith Not Sight
2 Corinthians 5:6, 7, “So, we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight.” In the journey of faith, uncertainty often looms like a shadow, threatening to cast doubt and fear upon our hearts. Yet, as believers, we are called to live with unwavering courage and confidence, anchored in the truth of God’s promises.
This Scripture reminds us that our earthly existence is but a temporary dwelling place. While we may be physically present in this world, our true home lies in the eternal presence of the Lord. This knowledge fills us with hope and assurance, even amidst life’s trials and tribulations. Walking by faith requires a shift in perspective—a willingness to trust in God’s unseen hand at work in our lives. It means choosing to believe in His goodness and sovereignty, even when circumstances seem bleak. For faith transcends what our eyes can see, grounding us in the unchanging truth of God’s Word.
As we navigate the ups and downs of life, let us take courage in the knowledge that we are not alone. Though we may not always understand God’s ways, we can trust in His unfailing love and wisdom.
“So, we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal” 2 Corinthians 4:18
