June 2027 – Think Pink

Think Pink

Scripture:     Philippians 4:8

Introduction

National Pink Day is celebrated on June 23 every year. It is a day to celebrate the meaning, history, and beauty of the pale shade of red. Pink is most associated with femininity, sensitivity, and tenderness. The day celebrates all things pink.

Pink symbolizes youth, good health, and playfulness. We think of pink as an innocent, cheerful color and helps us feel youthful.

Heart Painting on Canvas using Cotton Swabs

https://feelingnifty.com/heart-painting-canvas-ideas/

Supplies Needed:

Step 1: This time add your negative space heart stencil to the canvas. Using bright red paint, dip your cotton swab in it and create a border around the heart. Do not go all the way to the edge of the canvas with the red paint.

Step 2: Now take a pink color (either mix red with white or use pure pink if you have one). Using another cotton swab, dot the pink into the red dots and extend it beyond the red border.

Step 3: Using an even lighter pink (I like to use fluorescent pink mixed with lots of white), take a cotton swab and dot this lighter pink in the red and extend it to the edges of the canvas.

Think Pink!!

Pink?? Why not pink? Pink is the color of cotton candy, cherry blossoms, and strawberry milkshakes. It is the color of love, passion, and the feeling of being youthful. Pink is playful, vibrant, and oh-so-pretty. When I was younger, I was not so fond of pink. I liked wearing black. It was simple and went with everything. Now in my early 50’s, pink is my new obsession. I love to buy pink in everything. It helps me feel youthful and pretty. It gives me confidence on the outside that I am somebody. Pink is considered the color of innocence and playfulness.

As good as wearing pink makes me feel beautiful on the outside, there are days I am not feeling that pretty on the inside. I allow my thoughts and feelings to discourage and dishearten me. Philippians 4:8, “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” In this verse, Paul encourages believers to focus on positive things and to strive for the highest moral standards in their lives.

I see it as a challenge to examine the thoughts of our mind and how we are feeling on the inside, not what it makes us feel outwardly. Thoughts and feelings can have great power. It can lift us up or bring us down. One way to change those how we are feeling on the inside is to focus on Jesus. Jesus is what Philippians 4:8 is referring to. Jesus symbolizes everything that is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. As believers, we are commanded to live according to God’s ways. He does the work yet gives us work to do. We are called to trust in the Lord, yet also to serve the Lord. Paul set an example of how to do both. He was faithful in prayer yet gave every bit of his life to serve the Lord. Jesus was also faithful as shed His blood to make us white as snow. Those two symbols, blood (which is red in color) and snow (which is white in color), make pink.

There are days that I am not feeling so pink on the inside even though I am wearing it on the outside. Days when I have feelings that I cannot turn them off. Days when I’m feeling that I cannot go on any longer. When I’m having those feelings of doubt about myself, I am reminded of what Paul tells us about true things, not self spoken lies, but to ponder and reflect on what is noble and true, not what is base and vulgar but be reminded of what Jesus believes you are, which is the daughter of the King. We are in Christ, and we are new creations dressed in His righteousness. As we spend time with Him in His Word, pray to Him, and worship Him, He transforms us from one degree of glory to another. Our words, character, and actions become more like His. When you have those days when you may not be feeling the power of pink, remind yourself of these three things:

  • Focus on rejoicing in the Lord and on joy (tickled pink).
  • Focus on being healthy physically and spiritually (in the pink).
  • Focus on standing out from the crowd for Christ (feeling pink).

So, why not embrace the pink and let your true self, identity in Christ and shine?
