Focus Idea – Bible Read–through For Small Groups

The easiest and maybe most powerful small group you could have is a Bible read–through group. Groups can be assigned by area to meet at each other’s homes. They come only with their Bible and the idea of reading through it together. As they read together, they allow the Spirit to move and share how God is speaking to them.

The Salvation Army Eastern Territory’s Spiritual Life Development Department offers a free resource in English and Spanish that leads reading through the Bible in a year. This can be downloaded for use within a group. The link is: http://saconnects.org/the-one-year-bible-reading-plan.

A scripture–writing plan could also be incorporated. Www.Swtblessings.com has themed scripture writing plans (in English and Spanish) that are downloadable and printable. The premise is that Satan doesn’t want us in the Word of God and will attack by any means necessary. We need to hide God’s Word in our hearts. Individuals commit to writing a section of scripture each day. It will take ten minutes or less to copy a portion of scripture from the Bible.
