Bee Sweet
Scripture: Proverbs 16:24
Introduction
The word “sweet” triggers memories of honey, a testament to my mom’s enduring care and compassion. Her faithful remedy for throat pain was honey. It came with a heartening promise that ‘tea with honey’ soothes the soul. Honey transcended its medicinal value, representing my mother’s love and nurturing essence, which continues to inspire and uplift me still today.

Bee Sweet
“Kind words are like honey, sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.” (Pro. 16:24, NLT)
My mom’s honey remedy and Proverbs 16:24 share a common goal: to mend and nurture. With its remarkable antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and nutrient-rich properties, honey emerges as a natural healer, fostering wound recovery, cholesterol balance, and profund well-being, a true blessing for the body and soul. The Proverbist highlights vital words in this brief verse, reveling that just like my mom’s soothing honey tea, they will uplift our soul and nourish our body.
The word kind or kindness is used over four-hundred times in the Bible, symbolizing selfless acts that uplift others. God’s word illuminates the path to weaving this divine quality into our lives, even amidst disagreement. A treasure phrase passed down through generations of mothers, which is attributed to Thumper from the Disney movie says, “If you can’t say anything kind, don’t say it at all.” These words remind us that words have transformative power. When we choose to speak kindly, we uplift and bring comfort to others.
Proverbs 16:24 mentions the word honey and the Bible makes refences to honey 61 times. The Bible reveals its significance as a symbol of prosperity and abundance, reflecting the transformative power of God’s words to bring sweetness and fulfilment to our lives.
However, on the contrary, Proverbs 12:18 says, “unkind words can pierce the heart like swords.” Life-affirming words uplift the soul, while hurtful comments can cut deep. Let’s choose kindness over snide remarks, gossip, unfair criticism, cursing, name calling, and false accusations, for they harm others and don’t reflect the heart of believers.
When I hear the word honey, bees instantly come to mind reminding me of their remarkable ability to produce this natural treasure. Throughout history, the symbolism of bees has embodied inspiring virtues—focus, dedication, hard work, teamwork, generosity, and prosperity. Honey has a unique quality in that it never spoils, and is good forever. When we place our trust in Christ, we have an eternal hope and promise that He will never fail us.
As instruments of goodness, we were crafted to make a positive impact. Our deeds should leave a lasting sweet impression on those around us. Ephesians 2:10 inspires us, For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”Good works’ signify acts done for God’s glory fueled by His power, and guided by love for Him and others.
May Proverbs 16:24 inspire us to speak life-giving sweet words that uplift others. Let’s work together in harmony , like busy bees, to build God’s kingdom.
Prayer
Father, may every word we speak be a soothing balm, bringing solace and encouragement to those who suffer and lifting each other up. Help us emulate the industrious bees, working together in harmony with a unified purpose, fulfilling the good deeds you’ve ordained for us to do selflessly. Amen.
