Introduction
When I spent a few days with my sister, retired officer Captain Luva Blakely, we started to plan her celebration of life. We hoped she had six months to live with many systems of her body in a state of failure. We called her nephews and nieces to see if they would sing. We sorted all the final telephone numbers of who should be called. She was excited to journey towards heaven while leading as many to Jesus as she could in her final days.
At her next visit, her doctor reduced her various medications. She began reading the healing scriptures of the Bible. First, her diabetes was completely healed after ten years of insulin injections, and then her kidney and liver levels returned to normal. She no longer needed her oxygen and with a new heart medication, she not only felt better, but she could also walk in stores, and travel again.
One year after we were supposed to have her parting celebration, she is alive and enjoying life. Her testimony is one of faith, hope, and healing. No doubt you are also witnesses to such miracles of faith. Today, we are going to look with confident faith in Yahweh-Rapha, the Lord who heals.

Exodus 15:26 is the story of the people of Israel as they wandered in the wilderness and looked for water. They arrived at the water of Marah but found that the water was too bitter to drink. Moses cried out to God and He told him to throw a stick into the water. When he did, the water became sweet. God used this moment to teach them that He cared for them.
- Listen carefully to the Lord your God.
We don’t always listen to God. We tend to turn to our own needs and our own decisions. He has a special word of hope for us. Do we take time to listen? Do you believe He wants to speak to you?
- Do what is right in His eyes. The Holy Spirit was sent at Pentecost to teach us all things. He will also convict us of what is right and what is wrong. His quiet voice guides us to heaven through the Bible truth.
- Keep His commands. The Holy Spirit was sent to give us the power to overcome sin and be able to keep God’s commands. We are not able to do His will on our own strength, but we can by the power of the Holy Spirit.
What is His promise to us if we keep these steps? I am Yahweh-Rapha which in Hebrew means the Lord who heals. He can heal the sin-sick soul. He will heal the broken heart. He will heal physical disease. He is the Great Physician and created each one of us for a purpose in this life. He alone knows what is needed to heal us and has the remedy.
If we sin, He forgives and heals the soul. If our hearts are broken, He walks with us as we heal. If we are physically sick, He is able to completely heal on earth or in heaven. In all cases, we must first believe that He is our Yahweh-Rapha. Let’s pray today and ask the Lord to give us the courage to believe for His healing.
As you leave today, remember God can do exceedingly more than we could ever ask or think. He is our healer!
